An amazing character, and well portrayed. Completed just in time for Season 3. Im proud of this one, and the lessons it brought. I'll pat myself on the back tonight and tomorrow will be the start of something new.
I'll have Print of this the for up coming Calgary Expo in april 2013. A link is available in my previous post.

A Spiders End
Oil on Canvas 22 x 30
Oil on Board, 14 x 18
These I guess are what I consider to be my first 2 successful oil paintings. I use the term successful because I learned much from the process and I finished them without a sense of dislike. These are now in the past. Moving forward Im definitely going to continue painting in Oils at this time. Its cool to finish a piece and look over and "bam" there it is. A painting I can hold.
I'm definitely going to have to research & invest in some proper lighting rigs and photography set up for shooting these if I'm to continue painting.

Finished Oil Painting on Board 14"x18"
By The Power of GreySkull !
Digital Painting to plan the color scheme and mood.
Shooting a painting is an art form of itself. The image has a much more unified cool blue tone in person. Some of my favourite subtle color shifts in this painting got lost in the final image.

Doing the drawing and blocking in the darks is alway this fun familiar process. Once I start getting to color it transforms into a different kind of fun. " how to I recovery this to look good." By not quitting, has been my best guess so far.

I did this to get some basic placement of the character and poses. Gouache was fun to use to get a basic mood and idea to help direct me once I starting painting. It's fun to plan this stuff out but I always allow change to take place.

Started in Photoshop, then into Painter and spent most of my time there. Then I finished it off in photoshop with some of overlay layers and subtle effects. Im not sure how successful in comparison this is to my other work but I found being this loose was so much fun.
My original thumbnail had a hulking ogre-like monster in it, but I remember something I hear Ian McCaig say in an interview. Take an Idea and flip it. I though that was pretty cool, just cause it was very much like me to draw something so physically powerful.

Sketched this friday night, painted during the day yesterday. I pictured a group or person coming across Sabretooth in the woods, and shining a bright light on him. Pencil Sketch to be finished in Photoshop.
Fan Boys, I know I know his senses would never had allowed anyone to sneak up on him. Just enjoy the picture ;)

Hear us now ,clear and true. Wretches and kings we come for you. Skin and bone, black and blue. No more this sun shall beat onto you. - Linkin Park "AThousand Suns"
Here is the first Panel of Wretches and Kings. It's a 16 page short that came to me very suddenly while I was brushing my teeth, after a long night of shit drawings and low production. The entire scenario came to me during this time and I laid in bed and opened "Notes" on my IPhone and typed it all out in Darkness with tired dry watering eyes. I had a week off work coming up very quick and Penciled all 16 pages in 6 days, it was an awesome week. Jaclyn had some extra days off as well so it made it even better. Im loving this process, and very excited that this project is this far along already.
